My thoughts on Captain Marvel, yes I know it came out March 8, 2019 but thanks to Disney+ arrival I finally saw it.

Three thing I like a lot about MCU film is that the writers did not have Brie Larson’s character Ver/Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel whine about her amnesia. Instead I saw a strong woman full of determination and not willing to back down.

A whole lot better than seeing one more woman whether on television and or film who have whined about not being able to remember things about themselves because of a terrible accident or intense trauma. Male characters have now and again done the same but somehow it’s more mandatory for women characters.

Instead Vers goes on with her life, she fills her role as a Kree warrior. Sure she wakes Yon-Rogg to train with her in the wee hours but it only happens once or twice.

Also this film’s depiction of her is better than some story lines I have heard about Captain Marvel on Top Ten Nerd weaknesses (split personalities, weak mind, power loss ect.) and read about on Marvel.com. The worst story line I came across – Captain Marvel being brainwashed to fall in love with Immortus’s son. And then there is the time when Rogue wipes out the poor Captain’s memory. by accident.

I really appreciate that the writers did not copy these comic book story lines and that Brie Larson portrays the best of Captain Marvel on the big screen. I hope to see more of this strong and kick-ass character in the second solo film.
