Star Wars, the original trilogy, got a firm grip on me as a kid. I recall anytime I saw them appear on television I would go back and watch again. When my brother got the VHS tapes, I would beg to watch them. It was a bummer when he did not get the DVDs,
Post high school, the prequels began to be made, I was thrilled but when I saw clips on entertainment shows, it began to wain. I never became a fan of the prequels.
Then in late December of 2015, my family took me to a local theater to see The Force Awakens. I loved it!
Originally, I thought I would keep going until I saw Han Solo die and then I knew one by one each original character would die. New characters would carry on the mantle going forward. I did not like it so I chose to stop watching the films. However I have kept tabs on Star Wars and occasionally watch animated Star Wars programs. I have been content until now.
The Mandalorian has pulled me back into the Star Wars fold. After watching two episodes I feel better about experiencing Star Wars again. I really like the western feel and the character reveal at the end of the first episode made my heart melt. And in the second episode seeing the Force in action made my heart leap.
I really like Pedro Pascal as the main character and other characters including those played by Nick Nolte (Kuiil, Carl Weathers (Greef Carga), and Werner Herzog (The Client) very much. I hope to see Weathers and Herzog again in later episodes. Plus, Kuiil’s catch phrase is awesome!
I shall keep tuning in for The Mandalorian and I will also look for more programs to watch in Disney+.
