See the fast sports car above, that is how fast I feel my parents have gone since “My Mother” post. In less than a week my parents signed a lease for an apartment at Meadowwood, a retirement community located near IU University’s cyclotron. A few days later my Dad and I look at three office spaces; two needing work and one move in ready-we chose the move in ready office. A week after that my Dad signed a lease for the insurance office and this past Monday he moved in. The on-line retail business will be in the same building but a floor up. A move in date has yet to be set but it will be sometime next month.
Since then my parents chose what belongings to take, what to donate a lot to charity, tossed stuff, and will give me a few things. Today helpers with a local relocation firm packed my parents’s things except the furniture. Tomorrow the furniture and the boxes will be put in a truck and taken to the new apartment.
I have done my share of sorting too mostly work stuff and I made repairs to a wall papering job I did years ago in one of the bathrooms in my parent’s house and returned a bathroom cabinet to them. The house goes up for sale Friday. As I wrote at the beginning my parents moved fast, very fast. I never imagined my parents could be this speedy. The good news is they will be adjusting to their new home soon enough and as for the on-line business I am so glad I have more time before it moves.
