I’ve set the goals I would like to accomplish this year. I’d like to finish working on my second book and publish it, keep plugging my first book and write more short stories for my blog. There is one new thing; I would like to do. For years whenever I come across an author or book title that interests me, I write it down on a scrap of paper. When they pile up, I go online to my local library’s website and look them up. Any that are not there usually get added to my Amazon Wish List until I make a purchase or as birthday or Christmas gift suggestions to family.
The last few years I have been saving for a new house. So I don’t shop as much as I could because I want to save as much as I can. I want my next home to be one I might live in for decades to come. This year I am tweaking this a bit. I would like to purchase an e-book a month that is one of the books I can’t get from the library. I then want to see if I can read it all the way through, write a review and post it to Goodreads, my blog, and to social media sites I frequent.
I own a Kindle but prefer to hold a paperback or hardcover book. Why? Because the device has a glare that doesn’t allow me to read for extended periods of time, and I think it weighs more than most hardcovers I read. However, when I go on long car rides with others or if I go on vacation, I choose my Kindle rather than lugging a bunch of books with me. If I am going to give this a go, I will have to use my Kindle more.
I think this is a reasonable goal. Time will tell if I stick to reading e-books for 2015 but at least I came up with one new thing to try. It is far better than zero.
