Now that my “Defying Nature” posts have finished, I thought I would give an update on my writing projects. I have decided to put aside “The Keeper”, my abduction story. In its place I will rework parts of “Defying Nature”, add new sections to the story and maybe change the ending.
Once my work on this manuscript is complete, I will write another time travel story. I am itching to tell another tale about my hometown with a new character facing a similar yet different situation than Rebecca Harrison from “Between Two Worlds.” My outline is ready to go and I plan to begin writing the story either later this year or early 2017.
I also drafted an outline for another story. It takes place in the late 19th century and is about a doctor or policeman’s son (I have not chosen occupation yet) who abandons the United States after committing a brutal crime. In order to prevent capture and having to go to trial; he takes a new name and makes his way abroad. Once he is in a new country, he slowly reforms himself.
His father becomes aware of where is son is, his new name, and how he is now a better man, making the father proud of his son again. To make sure his son is never apprehended and brought back to the United States to stand trial,he works with a detective agency to find a low-level criminal to take his son’s identity in exchange for instant fame and the promise of wealth for his family upon his death. I would like to do research in a library to learn more about this century before developing this story idea further.
Now to the blog! I have a new short story ready to go starting May 24th and ending July 12th. It called “Friendship”, a snap shot into the lives of two pen pals Liam, an accountant, and Bonnie who works as a school administrator for two high schools.
