Dealt is an in depth profile of card magician Richard Turner.  Although after watching this documentary, I have to write that I think Turner has accomplished a lot in his life.   He not just  a master of the cards. Turner has also done tight rope walking, rock climbing, gotten a black belt in karate and much more.

Over the decades on many shows and in articles written about him the writer often revealed Turner’s lack of sight.  In Turner’s mind he’d rather be looked at for his achievements not for the fact he is blind.

I think everyone no matter how able he or she at one time or another something affects them physically.  It doesn’t occur  right away but as we get older something creeps up on all of us.  For some people this changes their lives forever and they adapt to cover come it.

For instance someone who once played hockey as an able person decides after losing the use of his or her legs to continue to play by using an adapted sled.  I have seen hockey played this way and boy are they talented, aggressive, and I think equal or better to  able bodied hockey players.

Also, years back I knew a blind man who fixes chairs including weaving new seats on damaged chairs.   He did this for a set of chairs belonging to a table set handed down on my mother’s side of the family.  The work he did was outstanding and I learned from him everyone is more than what they appear even when he or she has a loss of a sense.   The others kick in and added to that give them the chance and they will prove just how well they can excel in life.
