Ah December, when the lion of winter arrives in force and holiday giddiness goes into hyper drive. And no matter the genre, radio stations across the United States play holiday music.
Decorative lights are hung from gutters on homes and garages and on outdoor trees. Some people inflate balloons and bobbing images of Santa Claus greet all who pass it.
I get into gear and begin Christmas shopping. Normally I begin it long before any store gets decorated for the holidays, but this year I chose to be on time. Okay, I snuck in getting my niece’s gift a day sooner.
Also, December marks my birthday, which is today, my blog post day. I thought I would skip it, but I would be on social media today so it would be pointless to skip. Of course, this month is not just about me. It is about decreasing our bank accounts as we buy gifts and give them to others. No, that is not what December is all about, I tell myself.
Even with the hyper holiday season, I still get sentimental over what has happened during the year and give thanks for having lived another good year. Once more I am also thankful for family, friends, and of course my cat, Celia! Now to me, this is the true meaning of December and the holiday season.
Happy holidays to all!
